Who We Are & What We Do
Founded in 2002 by a group of local citizens, Community Cancer Services, home of ”Heather’s House”, is a non-profit, community-funded, resource providing information and support to cancer patients and their families residing in Bonner and Boundary counties of North Idaho. CCS continues to evolve as we learn more about the needs of local cancer patients and their families.
“This whole thing (Community Cancer Services) started with two prongs in 1998. Heather was diagnosed with breast cancer, and my best friend was diagnosed with lung cancer. Heather was a philanthropic leader; she would see a need, and get it done. If I just stood close to Heather for long enough, I would be involved in her legacy of service projects.”
— Cynthia Dalsing,
Co-founder of Heather’s House
A Look into History
Check out some stories about CCS in and around the Bonner/Boundary County area. It's incredible how much of an impact this amazing non-profit has had on our community!
Our office is comfy and homey. Join us for a cup of coffee or tea or just to visit and say hi. Our clients spend too much time in clinical medical settings so we aim to be comfortable and welcoming so coming to see us is more like stopping by to visit a friend.
Laney’s Library has books on different types of cancer, treatments and ways to support yourself and your family while going through treatment. There is also a collection of just for fun reading for your reading while you are taking care of yourself and resting and recovering.
Our Boutique contains wigs, hats & scarves to keep you warm & looking your best while going through treatment. We also have other items to give away or lend out as needed including walkers, canes, wheel chairs shower chairs & more.
